What motor assist levels are provided on the Vika X?
Prior Blix bikes provided pedal assist levels (PAS), with each level from 1-5 being tied to a specific speed via a cadence sensor (e.g. PAS 5 went 20mph). However, our X model provides a more natural type of motor power via a torque sensor! In short, the harder the rider pedals, the faster they go! The torque sensor adds motor power relative to how strongly the rider is pedaling. So, the harder the rider is pedaling, the more motor assist they get! This functions and feels similarly to how a non-electric bicycle responds.... but each pedal stroke is backed up by an equal amount of motor power! Additionally, there are several "Modes" available, which slightly alter how much assist the motor provides relative to the rider's input:
- Eco Mode provides the lowest level of motor assist, relying heavily on rider power. This offers the most range, and is the slowest option.
- Tour Mode goes halfway in providing motor assist, relying evenly on the motor and on rider power. This offers a bit less range, but the most balanced performance.
- Turbo Mode provides the most motor assist, and is great for getting you up to top speed easily! It offers the least amount of range, and is the fastest option.
- Off Mode provides no electrical assist (ouch!). However, you can still use the throttle!
- Auto Mode intelligently adjusts the motor power based on the amount of power your legs put into pedaling, offering the most natural riding performance.
