My motor shuts off while riding
If your motor shuts off while riding, there could be one or more contributing factors.
Most of the time, a sudden shut off of the motor is due to an improper connection. We highly recommend checking that:
- The battery is seated all the way on the battery rail, and locked into place. You may want to remove the battery completely, and install the battery once again to ensure the connection is being made.
- Check that the display cable is connected properly.
- Check the controller cables and reconnect them to ensure a proper connection.
- Check the motor cable that comes out of the left side of the motor core. The motor cable connection is then zip tied to the frame.
The motor has protections in place to ensure it doesn't malfunction.
Should the motor encounter usage that goes beyond its specified limits, it may shut off in order to prevent mechanical failure. This generally only happens when bike is over its weight capacity, or going up a particularly steep hill with motor engagement for long periods of time. For these situations we highly recommend checking your pedal assist level, how much throttle is being used, and the terrain you are riding on.
